GGv0.18 ~ the UX update + fanfare


hi friends, busy week so not much of a devlog this time around, but the last push was a good one so it’s still worth a quick changelog:

  • the little varmints now celebrate when they win a combat, and celebrate even harder when they win a battle.
  • majorly reworked the way the team select screen works, its much more permissive and intuitive, especially for larger teams.
  • gameplay change: you can now hold onto your promotions and save them for later (though i wouldn’t necessarily recommend that strategy!)
  • combat log can now be shown or hidden with a little menu button in the top left.
  • added some more confirmation errors to protect against common misclicks:
    • confirmation request when trying to end turn without using all card plays
    • confirmation when trying to end promotion phase without using all promotions
    • confirmation popup describing the mechanic of varmints in reserves costing an additional bloom ribbon to promote.
  • added an indicator for how many enemy squads remain to fight during the battle phase
  • keep the “battle progression” buttons (speed and auto on/off) on the screen for the whole battle, so you don’t have to try and snipe them between ending your card plays and starting the battle.
  • we now call ’em “bloom ribbons” instead of “promotions” (the currency)
  • when the player clicks on a card but they’re out of card plays, we shake the card plays remaining indicator as a gentle reminder.
